PCB INSPECTOR / SOLDER TECHNICIAN

A PCB Inspector / Solder Technician inspects, assembles, and reworks printed circuit boards using specialized magnification and precision soldering tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Soldering & Rework: Perform surface-mount (SMT) and thru-hole (THT) hand soldering, component replacement, and PCB rework.
• Inspection: Examine solder joints, component alignment, and placement under a microscope or optical inspection system.
• Quality Control: Ensure work complies with industry standards like IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements.
• Troubleshooting: Identify assembly defects (such as cold joints or bridging) and collaborate with engineering teams on corrective actions.
• Documentation: Record inspection results, test parameters, and tracking details to maintain process traceability.
• ESD & Safety Standards: Maintain an ESD-protected (Electrostatic Discharge) work area and follow 5S workplace organization and safety rules.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 1 to 3+ years of hands-on electronics assembly or soldering experience.
• Certifications (Preferred): IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) or IPC J-STD-001.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in hand soldering fine-pitch components and lead-free techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, blueprints, and assembly drawings.
  • Experience using inspection microscopes, multi-meters, and small hand tools.
• Soft Skills: Strong hand-eye coordination, high attention to detail, good visual acuity for microscopic work, and team collaboration.

Hourly Range

• $22.00 – $28.00 per hour
