PRODUCTION FLOOR SUPERVISOR

Purpose

Directs the work, people and results in Production to produce completed power controller units. Trains employees, leads production and performance goals, organizes and assigns work, and maintains a productive and motivational climate.  Advanced communication and computer skills are very useful for the role.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs, supervises, and coordinates assembly and test station set-ups and operations requiring a broad knowledge of production and assembly processes, power controller parts, test procedures, and industrial engineering applications to provide efficient assemblage and final testing that meets quality, quantity, schedule, and cost requirements.
  • Organizes and assigns work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, cross-training programs, labor hours, to the best advantages to obtain most favorable assembly costs, test results and the highest quality and workmanship.
  • Provides regular training, instruction, and guidance and maintains close surveillance over set-up/changeover procedures on test equipment. Analyzes and diagnoses machine/tool and test equipment problems, malfunctions, etc., to expedite and coordinate corrective procedures/actions and to prevent excessive downtime and interrupted schedules.  Act as liaison with Engineering Department to expedite and coordinate corrective procedures/actions.
  • Integrates required revisions to products or processes as necessary.
  • Provides information and collaborates with other departments to assist with and/or implement such programs related to work simplification, cost reduction, new methods, labor hour planning, scheduling, machine repairing and maintenance.
  • Support Health & Safety through participation in Safety Committee, safety training, completion of safety audits, and Safety action Reports.  Maintains conformance with Control Concepts employee and safety rules and regulations, issues violation warnings and administers approved disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Participates in and coordinates internal programs, such as communications, vacation schedules, job analysis and evaluation, employee performance reviews, wage administration, etc.
  • Address employee performance and corrective action plans; participates in appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing grievances and resolving problems while maintaining a productive and motivational climate; employee motivation and rewards.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.

Specifications

  • This position prefers a degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Minimum of three (3) years of previous experience in supervising production or manufacturing environment is required, plus additional formal supervisory training.
  • Candidate must possess a broad knowledge of production and assembly processes, power controller parts, test procedures, and industrial engineering applications.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and be able to work extended shifts and weekend hours when required.
  • Requirements include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word,, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), Internet and E-Mail.
