SHIPPER

Summary

The Shipper is solely responsible for packaging and shipping customer orders, both domestic and international.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

    1.  Have intimate knowledge of all packaging, shipping procedures and proper documents necessary for domestic and international shipments.

    2.  Assemble, pack, label and ship product, effectively ensuring the customer receives product according to customer specifications and in perfect condition.

    3.  Arrange appropriate transportation of products (domestic and international).

    4.  Maintain stock of instruction manuals, boxes, foam machine supplies and other shipping requirements to avoid delays.

    5.  Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment in a safe manner.

    6.  Maintain a clean and safe work area.

    7.  Communicates any concerns to management.

    8.  Does other receiving/manufacturing/assembly operations and tasks as necessary

Education and/or Experience

  • 3 years related experience in working in a material requirements planning (MRP) environment preferred, in a shipping position of similar type and level of responsibility.  However, may hire trainee with exceptional aptitude and interest.
  • Experience with major shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.) software programs, including international shipping.
  • Ability to effectively operate motorized and/or manual lifting devices and become certified as needed (i.e. Forklift, Pallet Jack, Manlift, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively operate packing and packaging equipment (shipping stapler, foam-in-place machine, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.  Strong organizational skills; accurate typing skills and/or data entry.  Ability to use good judgment in order to carry out detailed instructions.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and to make metric system conversions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Maintain a consistent, positive attitude.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Stand (for the majority of the working day), reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.
  • Requires giving and/or receiving verbal and written communication.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Requires exposure to high places.
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Standards:

Exemption Status:  Role is classified as Non-exempt and will receive compensation for hours worked in excess of relevant State and Federal standards.

Work Hours:  8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Under normal circumstances, it is expected that the core duties and responsibilities can be completed in scheduled workweek by a fully qualified associate.  Attendance on a regular, consistent basis is mandatory, including arriving at the time scheduled by your supervisor daily.

Salary:  $25.00 to $27.00/hour
